Communities of Practice

WCMICS is keen for opportunities to share ideas and resources that support quality improvement activities.  We are planning to run regular Communities of Practice (COPs) for all project staff and stakeholders involved in active funded projects, and other interested parties.

The purpose of the Community of Practice is to share ideas and resources to support quality improvement activities. It is a place where you can float ideas, discuss best practice approaches as well as learn about successful quality activities that have already been implemented.

Furthermore, COPs are important as a professional learning strategy as they

  • Connect people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to interact, either as frequently or at all.

  • Provide a shared context for people to communicate and share information, stories and personal experiences in a way that builds understanding and insight.

  • Enable dialogue between people who come together to explore new possibilities, solve challenging problems, and create new, mutually beneficial opportunities.

  • Stimulate learning by serving as a vehicle for authentic communication, mentoring, coaching, and self-reflection.

  • Capture and share existing knowledge to help people improve their practice by providing a forum to identify solutions to common problems and a process to collect and evaluate best practices.

  • Introduce collaborative processes to groups and organizations to encourage the free flow of ideas and exchange of information.

  • Help people organise around purposeful actions that develop tangible results.

  • Generate new knowledge to help people transform their practice to accommodate changes in needs and technologies.

Annual Forum

WCMICS holds an annual forum each November. This is a great annual forum that not only showcases recent funded improvement projects from across the region but an opportunity for open discussion and shared learnings. Keep an eye on our news and events for next year's event.
